I may quite possibly love you and want to have your children :) I'll be in Nairobi next week and will give it a go.

All of the best for your own journey too. I hope that it has been everything you imagined and more.

I don't know if you got your Sudanese visa in SA, but there is no problem getting it in Nairobi on the way (we did this just a few weeks ago). We have crossed Sudan and are now in Egypt (we are travelling by car) and it was a delightful country to visit, with the friendliest and most honest people we have met on the continent.
At the Sudanese embassy in Nairobi you will need a letter of recommendation from your own embassy (I got mine on the same day), a passport photo, US$50 in Kenyan Shillings. If you drop off your paperwork before 12, you can pick up your visa next day in the afternoon. The lady at the desk is stern but fair.
Good luck!

Sudan is a trouble-child right now coz of all that Darfur stuff. I sure hope you did not list your profession as a "journalist" while applying for a visa coz the Sudanese are currently averse to foreign journalists.

This is one section that I will surely use my Kenyan passport coz getting through Sudan on a US visa could be challenging if not risky.

Ye - unfortunately the lady at the embassy in SA said that my chances here are not good. She did, however, point out that the embassy in Addis Ababa may be much faster (being closer to Sudan and all), so that I should leave my passport there while I explore Ethiopia and then see if the visa is waiting when I return. If not, then I will unpack and examine plans C through to Z :)

I have all of my visa vibes focused on you. I hope you can get the Sudan visa while in S.A. as it doesn't seem like you could easily get it on the road. Fingers crossed, and I know you'll let us know as soon as you get word.
