In total, I think the entire trip cost somewhere just under $3,000. That's all of the transport, food, accommodation, etc. If you wanted to take it slower and see more countries (a lot of the people I met went to see Uganda, Rwanda and Malawi as well, for example), then I think it would add to the expenses, but for the most part, accommodation and transport, unless you are insisting on a five-star safari, ia really affordable. I didn't keep a day by day expense log, but have a list of all of the transport links I took and their costs, which I can email to you if you like?

Absolutely loved your Capetown to Cairo blog. One question though, how much did it cost? The reason I ask is because I intend to do a similar safari, only in reverse. Congrats on the Matador internship.

i absolutely love matador too, also came across it randomly and haven't found any other site quite as diverse or interesting. congratulations on the internship, that is really cool.

so glad to know there is another south african out there with the same love of travel. although i am sure there are many south africans out there, i have found other south african backpackers somewhat of a rarity in my experience.

also very interested in reading more about your travels in africa, unfortunately haven't done much of it myself but definitely hope to in the future!

Wow, congratulations! Those guys are so cool over there, I'm sure you'll learn heaps.

I've fallen in love with Matador for many of the same reasons as you. But I think the best part is the people. Everyone is just so ridiculously supportive!

I love your blog, by the way. I especially like how you've meshed that food stop pic into the background (Well, plus it's in SEA so it was bound to catch my eye anyway!) A long haul the length of Africa or from Alaska to Patagonia have always been on my to do list. Maybe some day??

Enjoy your internship!
